The Patron Dinner is held annually in June in honor of our members at the Patron level and above. The celebration includes a cocktail hour and dinner, where the signature Patron Gift and Order of the Olive members are presented. In 1994, the tradition of a Patron Gift was begun. Each year, an artist who has exhibited at the Athenaeum is commissioned to create a limited-edition artwork, often reflecting the character of the organization. The first reproduction becomes part of the Athenaeum's permanent collection. The others are given as gifts to donors who support the Athenaeum at the Patron level or higher. Join us for music, refreshments, and piano-side caroling to celebrate the holiday season! The Athenaeum is transformed with décor that will leave you feeling bright and gay, including a traditional European Christmas Village display. Enjoy eggnog, sweets, and grandiose cookie displays by Girard Gourmet. Sing along to carols with pianist John Evans, and listen to live jazz music.
Please join us at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library on Saturday, September 7 for a pop-up with Check One Two, a coffee company based here in San Diego. Check One Two will be serving free samples of their new retail cold brew line, with vinyl DJ sets by Chulita Vinyl Club, Brian Clinebell, and Flying Disc. Pop into the gallery afterward to see the Athenaeum's Annual Juried Exhibition, highlighting over 50 San Diego–based artists.
